American Donuts
Delight your family and bring a touch of American flair to your kitchen. Due to the added colors, sugar, and extracts in the glazes, this is not the healthiest dessert, so enjoy it in moderation.

Ingredients
- pieces Oil, vegetable oil, canola
dough
-
125 ml Milk, partially skimmed
-
60 g Butter, unsalted
-
25 g Yeast, dry
-
60 ml Water
-
375 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
0.5 teaspoons Salt, table
-
45 g Sugar, white
-
1 piece Egg, fresh
Steps
-
Place a small pot on the stove and add butter and milk to it. Slowly heat the mixture until the butter begins to melt. Continue heating until the butter is completely melted. Then remove the pot from the heat and let the mixture cool. Crumble the yeast into warm water and dissolve it (if using dry yeast, sprinkle it directly over the flour).
-
Warm the bowl in which you will knead the dough slightly, then sift the flour into it. Add sugar and salt and make a small well in the center. Crack an egg into a cup, beat it, and add it to the well. Pour the yeast and warm milk mixture over it.
-
Use your hands to mix all the ingredients into a smooth dough. While kneading, scrape the flour from the edges of the bowl and incorporate it into the dough. If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour. Knead the dough until it no longer sticks to your hands or the sides of the bowl. Then shape it into a ball and let it rise in the bowl in a warm place for 45 to 60 minutes.
-
Take the risen dough out of the bowl and roll it out on a floured surface to a thickness of 2.5 cm. Use a round cutter with a diameter of 7.5 cm to cut out circles from the dough, and use a smaller cutter to remove the centers, creating rings.
-
Place the dough rings on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let them rise for 20 minutes.
-
Place a large pot on the stove and heat a generous amount of oil in it. Fry the risen rings a few at a time in the hot oil for 3 to 4 minutes on each side (until both sides are evenly browned). Then remove them from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain as much oil as possible. Repeat the process until all the rings are fried.
-
Before serving, you can decorate them with various colored glazes, decorating creams, powdered sugar, chocolate and colorful sprinkles, or chocolate ganache.

Advice
25g of fresh yeast can be replaced with 7g of dry yeast. Fry in a large amount of fat. The food should float in it. For frying, use fats that do not contain water, such as coconut oil or good quality oil. The frying fat is hot enough when small bubbles form around a wooden spoon handle.
