Ingredients
-
pieces Butter, unsalted
-
175 g Butter, unsalted
-
150 g Sugar, brown
-
1 teaspoon Vanilla, extract, imitation
-
2 piece Egg, fresh
-
225 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
1 teaspoon Baking powder
-
1 teaspoon Spices, cinnamon, ground
-
4 teaspoon Yogurt, plain, from whole milk
-
2 piece Apple, fresh
Steps
-
Preheat the oven to 160 degrees Celsius. Grease a deep rectangular baking dish with butter, then line it with baking paper. Sift the flour into a bowl and mix it with baking powder and cinnamon.
-
Using an electric mixer, cream the softened butter, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Then gradually add the eggs one by one into the butter mixture.
-
Mix the yogurt into the egg-butter mixture, then reduce the mixer speed to the lowest setting and gently and slowly mix in the flour, baking powder, and cinnamon mixture.
-
Peel the apples and remove the stems and cores. Cut them into small pieces. Using a spatula, mix about 2/3 of the apple pieces into the batter, then pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. Use the spatula to evenly spread the batter in the dish and smooth the top. Sprinkle the remaining apple pieces on top.
-
Bake the cake in the preheated oven on the middle rack for 80 to 90 minutes. The cake is done when the surface is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
-
Remove the baked cake from the oven and let it cool in the baking dish. Once cooled, carefully remove it from the dish, place it on a large plate or platter, slice it, and serve.
