Ingredients
Butter crumbs
-
70 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
2 pinch Salt, table
-
0.75 teaspoons Spices, cinnamon, ground
-
70 g Sugar, brown
-
40 g Butter, unsalted
Dough
-
60 g Butter, unsalted
-
100 g Sugar, white
-
1 piece Egg, fresh
-
1 teaspoon Vanilla, extract, imitation
-
80 ml Milk, whole milk
-
130 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
1 teaspoon Baking powder
-
3 pieces Apple, fresh
-
pieces Butter, unsalted
Steps
-
Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius. Grease a round cake pan with a removable bottom (20 cm in diameter) well with butter and lightly dust with flour.
-
To prepare the butter crumbs, mix flour, salt, cinnamon, and sugar in a bowl. Add the cold butter cut into pieces and rub it into the dry ingredients with your fingers until a crumbly mixture forms. Store the butter crumbs in the refrigerator until ready to use.
-
Next, prepare the batter. Sift the flour into a bowl and mix it with baking powder. In another bowl, mix the butter and sugar with an electric mixer. Beat on high speed for 4 to 5 minutes until a light and creamy mixture forms. Add the egg and mix until a light and frothy mixture forms. Then mix in the vanilla extract. Sift half of the flour and baking powder mixture over the mixture. Pour in the milk and mix well. Then sift the remaining flour and baking powder and mix it well into the batter.
-
Pour the prepared batter into the cake pan and spread it evenly over the bottom of the pan using the back of a spoon (you can also use a spatula or ladle).
-
Wash the apples, peel them, and cut them into quarters. Remove the stems and cores and discard them. Slice the apple quarters into thinner slices and arrange them over the batter. Sprinkle the butter crumbs on top.
-
Place the pan in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes. The cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the batter comes out clean.

Advice
Instead of vanilla extract, you can use vanilla flavoring. Dust the cake with powdered sugar before serving. The butter is easiest to soften by taking it out of the refrigerator at least one hour before preparation and letting it sit at room temperature.
