Ingredients
Crumble
-
200 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
1 pinch Salt, table
-
150 g Butter, unsalted
-
80 g Sugar, white
-
80 g Butter, unsalted
-
80 g Sugar, white
-
4 pieces Apple, fresh
Steps
-
Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius. Sift the flour and salt into a bowl. Mix and sprinkle the butter pieces on top, which you then rub into the dry ingredients with your fingertips. Lift the mixture while doing this to make it airy and crumb-like. Mix the buttery crumbs with sugar and store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
-
Place a cast-iron pan (25 cm in diameter) on the stove and add butter and sugar. Heat on medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved and turns golden brown. Shake the pan several times to ensure the butter and caramelized sugar combine well.
-
Wash the apples, peel them, remove the cores, and cut them into equally sized pieces. Add them to the pan with the caramel. Mix well and cook on moderate heat for 8 to 10 minutes until the apples soften slightly and turn a nice brown color. Remove from heat.
-
Evenly spread the apples in the pan and cover them with the buttery crumbs. Place the pan in the preheated oven for 25 minutes until the crumbs turn golden brown. Serve the dessert warm or cold, and it pairs excellently with a side of cold whipped cream, Greek yogurt, or ice cream.

If you dont have a cast-iron pan, you can also use another heat-resistant pan with a thick bottom. Apples can be seasoned with cinnamon or vanilla as desired.
