Ingredients
-
1 bouquet Asparagus, fresh
-
5 slice Meat, pork, smoked ham
-
1 handful Cheese, Parmesan, grated
-
2.5 spoons Oil, olive
-
pieces Salt, table
Steps
-
First, wash the asparagus, then cut or snap off the lower woody part and discard it. Quickly blanch them (1 to 2 minutes) in salted boiling water to soften them slightly. Remove the blanched asparagus from the pot, quickly cool them in cold water, and drain.
-
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Grease a deep baking dish with olive oil. Divide the asparagus into five bundles and wrap each with slices of ham. Place the wrapped bundles in the baking dish and sprinkle them with Parmesan. Top everything with freshly ground pepper and drizzle with a little olive oil, then cover the dish with aluminum foil. Bake the asparagus in the preheated oven, covered, for 10 minutes, then uncovered for another 5 minutes, until the cheese is nicely golden brown.
-
Serve the baked asparagus while still warm. It pairs well with roasted potatoes, cooked rice, garlic bread, or simply a large bowl of green salad.

Instead of Parmesan, you can use another type of cheese (mozzarella, edam, gouda).
