Ingredients
-
400 g Pasta, Macaroni
-
2 spoons Butter, unsalted
-
1 pod Garlic, fresh
-
1 teaspoon Mustard
-
3 spoons Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
500 ml Milk, whole milk
-
250 g Cheese, Gouda
-
60 g Cheese, Parmesan, hard
-
0.25 teaspoons Salt, table
-
2 pinch Spices, pepper, black
Steps
-
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Peel and finely chop the garlic. Grate both types of cheese.
-
Place a pot with a larger amount of water for cooking pasta on the stove. Just before the water boils, add salt. Add the pasta to the boiling water and cook for 2 minutes less than indicated on the package.
-
Melt the butter in a larger pot. Add the chopped garlic and mustard, and sauté while stirring continuously for 1 minute. Then add the flour and sauté the mixture while stirring for another 1 minute. Gradually pour in the warm milk and mix well to prevent lumps from forming. Stir and cook until the sauce thickens. Remove the pot from the heat and mix in the grated Gouda and half of the grated Parmesan.
-
Drain the pasta well and add it to the pot with the sauce. Season with pepper and salt, and mix everything well. Transfer the mixture to a deep baking dish, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan on top. Place the dish in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, until the top is nicely golden brown.
-
Serve the prepared dish on plates and enjoy. A large bowl of seasonal salad pairs well with it.

Advice
If we dont have mustard powder, we can use regular or whole-grain mustard. Mix it into the sauce along with the cheese.
