Baked Macaroni with Sausage and Cheese
A simple and tasty dish, perfect for a family lunch during the week or for the weekend. Pasta is mixed with a flavorful sauce based on tomatoes and seasoned sausage meat, cheese, and béchamel, topped with a sprinkle of grated cheese, and then baked in the oven. One of those dishes where a little effort yields a big result.

Ingredients

400 g Pasta, Macaroni

2 spoons Oil, olive

0.5 piece Onion, raw

400 g Carniolan sausage

400 g Tomato, pieces - can

1 dl Alcohol, Wine, White

pieces Salt, table

300 g Cheese, mozzarella

30 g Cheese, Parmesan, grated

200 ml Sweet cream
Steps

Peel the sausage and crumble the meat into a bowl with your fingers. Peel the onion and finely chop it.

Pour olive oil into a large deep pan and heat it up. Once hot, add the chopped onion. Sauté it over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it becomes translucent. Add the crumbled sausage meat and cook it over medium heat, stirring, until all the pieces are browned.

Pour in the wine and wait for the alcohol to evaporate, then add the strained tomatoes. Season with salt to taste and mix everything well. Cover the pan with a lid and simmer the sauce over low heat for 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until it is al dente (firm to the bite).

Drain the cooked pasta and transfer it to a large bowl. Mix it with the sauce, béchamel, and diced mozzarella. For a juicier dish, you can also add about a deciliter of the pasta cooking water.

Transfer the mixture to a deep baking dish (approximately 20 x 25 cm). Sprinkle grated cheese on top, then place the dish in the oven preheated to 180°C (356°F) for 20 minutes. For the last 5 minutes of baking, turn on the broiler to create a nice crispy crust on the surface.
