Ingredients
-
250 g Millet, raw
-
1 l Water
-
20 dag Meat, pork, smoked bacon
-
1 piece Egg, fresh
-
1.25 dl Sweet cream
-
2 spoons Sour cream
-
1 spoon Butter, unsalted
-
0.5 teaspoons Salt, table
-
2 pinch Spices, pepper, white
Steps
-
Sort the millet porridge, rinse it, and drain well. Place a pot of water on the stove, lightly salt it, and bring to a boil. Add the drained millet porridge to the boiling water and cook slowly over moderate heat. After about 20 minutes, check if the porridge is cooked. If it is, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly.
-
Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius. Grease a deep baking dish well with butter. Cut the bacon into smaller pieces. Mix half of the millet porridge with the bacon in a bowl. In another bowl, whisk the egg with a hand whisk and mix it with sweet and sour cream. Lightly season the egg mixture with salt and pepper. Spread the mixture of millet porridge and bacon into the greased baking dish and distribute it evenly with a spoon. Cover with the remaining porridge. Finally, pour the prepared mixture over the top and bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
-
Serve the baked millet porridge directly from the baking dish.

Advice
Instead of water, you can also use vegetable, chicken, or meat broth. 200 g of millet porridge cooks to approximately 750 g. If desired, you can also fry the bacon before mixing it with the porridge.
