First, let's prepare the Bolognese sauce. Peel the onion and garlic, then finely chop them separately. Wash, peel, and grate the carrot or cut it into small pieces.

Heat oil in a large, deep pan. Add the onion and carrot and sauté for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion becomes translucent. Add the chopped garlic and stir. Sauté for another minute to release the garlic's aroma.

Add the ground meat to the pan. Cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the meat breaks into pieces and turns brown. Stir in the tomato paste and then the tomato puree.

Add the bay leaf and all the spices, then mix the sauce well. Simmer over low heat for 30-40 minutes, stirring frequently. Add a little water if needed. The sauce is ready when it thickens and the meat becomes tender.

About 15 minutes before the sauce is done, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to the manufacturer's instructions until 'al dente' (still firm to the bite). Drain the cooked pasta.

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Mix the Bolognese sauce and cooked pasta together. Add a handful of grated mozzarella and mix everything well.

Transfer the prepared mixture into a large baking dish and spread it evenly with a spoon. Sprinkle the remaining grated cheese on top. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until the cheese melts and turns golden brown.
