Ingredients
- 250 g Dough, wonton
filling
-
180 g Butter, unsalted
-
350 g Nuts, almonds
-
200 g Pistachio
-
0.5 teaspoons Spices, cinnamon, ground
syrup
-
50 g Honey
-
450 g Sugar, white
-
3 dl Water
-
1 piece Juice, lemon
Steps
-
Cut the phyllo dough sheets to the size of the baking dish; you will need about 6 layers. In a small bowl, mix the almonds, 150 g of pistachios, and cinnamon. Place a saucepan on the stove and melt the butter in it.
-
Prepare a baking dish with high sides and grease it with melted butter. Place the first layer of dough in the dish and brush it with butter. Add the second layer and also brush it with butter. Repeat this for the first three layers, without adding the ground nuts.
-
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Brush the fourth layer with butter and sprinkle with the mixture of almonds, pistachios, and cinnamon. Repeat this process up to the fifth layer. Brush the top layer with butter. Use a sharp knife to score the baklava multiple times halfway through to create evenly sized squares. Place the dish in the oven and bake the baklava for about 40 minutes.
-
While the baklava is baking, wash the lemon and thinly peel the zest. Then cut the lemon in half and squeeze out the juice. Place a saucepan on the stove and add honey, sugar, and water, mixing well. Add the lemon zest and juice and wait for the syrup to boil. Remove the boiling syrup from the heat, cover it, and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Then remove the lemon zest.
-
Once the baklava is baked, take it out of the oven and immediately pour the hot syrup over it. Sprinkle the remaining pistachios on top. Let it cool completely, cut into squares, and serve to your guests.

Advice
It is best to use organic lemons, whose peel is not treated with pesticides. If organic lemons are not available, soak the lemon in hot water for a few minutes and wipe it well to remove the wax, which contains toxins. Phyllo dough can be purchased or made at home using a phyllo dough recipe.
