Beef steaks in sauce are one of the more popular homemade meals. Since the preparation is not overly complicated, even less experienced cooks can tackle it, and the tender steaks in sauce are also enjoyed by pickier children.

Ingredients
-
2 spoons Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
1 piece Onion, raw
-
pieces Meat, beef, thigh
-
1.5 spoons Mustard
-
4 pieces Carrot, fresh
-
pieces Salt, table
-
500 g Potatoes, white
Steps
-
Peel the onion and finely chop it. Place a pan on the stove and add a little oil. Wait for the oil to heat up, then add the chopped onion to the pan and slowly sauté it, stirring occasionally.
-
While the onion is sautéing, lightly salt the beef steaks on both sides and thinly spread them with mustard. Add them to the pan with the sautéed onion and brown them nicely on both sides.
-
Clean the carrots, wash them, and cut them lengthwise into quarters, then slice them into approximately 2 cm long sticks. Add the carrots to the pan with the sautéed onion and browned steaks. Sauté everything together a bit more, then add a little water. Use a spatula to scrape the bottom of the pan well to release all the caramelized bits that formed during the sautéing. Cover and simmer the steaks for 50 to 60 minutes until they become tender. During simmering, add water as needed and turn the steaks a few times so they soak up the sauce well. Season the sauce with pepper to taste.
-
Just before the steaks are ready, cook the gnocchi in salted boiling water.
-
On the plates, first serve the steaks and carrots. Pour the sauce over them, then add the cooked gnocchi to the plates. Serve the prepared dish.

Instead of gnocchi, you can serve mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, or bread dumplings with the steaks.
