Ingredients
-
4 pieces Onion, raw
-
125 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
0.25 teaspoons Salt, table
-
1 piece Egg, fresh
-
150 ml Alcohol, Beer
-
pieces Oil, vegetable oil, canola
Steps
-
Peel the onion and cut it into approximately 5 mm thick slices, which you place in ice water for 1 to 2 hours.
-
Sift the flour into a bowl and mix it with salt. Make a well in the center, add the whole egg, and pour in half of the beer. Gradually incorporate the flour to form a smooth mixture. Add the remaining beer and cover the bowl. Let the batter rest for 30 minutes so the flour swells and the batter becomes thick and fluid.
-
Remove the onion slices from the water and thoroughly dry them with paper towels. Separate the slices into individual rings with your fingers.
-
Heat the oil well in a deep pot. Dip the onion rings into the prepared batter (use a fork to help) and carefully place them into the hot oil. When the rings turn golden brown, remove them from the oil with a slotted spoon and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels.
-
Serve the fried onion rings on a plate and accompany them with various dips.

Advice
You can add a bit of chili powder or ground hot pepper to the batter. Fry in a large amount of fat. The food should float in it. For frying, use fats that do not contain water, such as coconut oil or good quality oil. The frying fat is hot enough when small bubbles form around a wooden spoon handle.
