Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Lightly grease a small deep rectangular baking dish with butter and line it with baking paper. Add the remaining butter to a small pot and melt it slowly over low heat.

Sift the flour into a large bowl and mix it with baking powder, sugar, and salt. Pour in the beer and melted butter, and mix all the ingredients well with a whisk or spoon to form a sticky dough.
