Beet and Ground Meat Roll
You probably have never heard of a roll made from pickled beets. Yet, it would be a shame not to try it, as it is truly excellent. It is good warm or cold, and can be served as a main dish, appetizer, or snack at parties.

Ingredients
-
1 piece Dough, puff
-
1 kg Turnip
-
2 spoons Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
1 piece Onion, raw
-
2 pod Garlic, fresh
-
0.5 kg Meat, beef, ground
-
pieces Parsley, fresh
-
1 piece Spices, bay (leaves)
-
pieces Salt, table
-
pieces Spices, pepper, black
-
1 piece Egg, fresh
Steps
-
Coarsely chop the parsley. Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic. Sauté them in oil. Add the ground meat, bay leaf, and chopped parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste. While stirring, cook until all the meat pieces are nicely browned. Remove the pan from the heat and let it cool slightly.
-
Drain the pickled beets well. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle. First, spread a layer of ground meat on the rolled-out pastry, then a layer of beets, and finally another layer of meat (see tips). Carefully roll the pastry into a roll and brush it with beaten egg.
-
Bake the roll in an oven preheated to 190 to 200 degrees Celsius until the pastry turns a nice golden brown (about 30 minutes).

Advice
If you want the roll to be juicier, add a pureed tomato (about 2.5 dl) to the meat or add béchamel sauce between the layers (you will need about 2 dl).
