Bonet
Bonet (also known as bunet) is an Italian dessert that originally comes from the Piedmont region. With its simplicity and exquisite taste, it delights every eater, especially those who prefer lighter desserts. To prepare it, we only need eggs, milk, cocoa, rum, and amaretti, Italian almond cookies that give the dessert its characteristic flavor.

Ingredients
Caramel
-
120 g Sugar, white
-
50 ml Water
-
4 pieces Egg, fresh
-
120 g Sugar, white
-
50 g Cocoa, powdered, unsweetened
-
500 ml Milk, whole milk
-
20 ml Alcohol, Rum
-
120 g Breadcrumbs, dried
Steps
-
Place a small pot on the stove and add sugar and water. Slowly heat the mixture while stirring until all the sugar dissolves. Then, without stirring, continue heating until the syrup turns a golden brown color.
-
Take a narrow, elongated baking dish and pour the prepared caramel into it. Tilt the dish left and right to spread the caramel evenly across the surface. Set aside and let the caramel harden.
-
Preheat the oven to 150 degrees Celsius. Crush the cookies with your hands or use an electric chopper. Heat the milk in a small pot.
-
Whisk the eggs and sugar until frothy. Add the sifted cocoa powder, hot milk, and rum. Finally, mix in the crushed cookies.
-
Pour the prepared mixture into the baking dish coated with caramel. Place it in a larger baking dish filled halfway with hot water. Bake the dessert in a water bath in the lower third of the preheated oven for about 60 minutes.
-
Once the dessert is baked, let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 3 hours. When ready to serve, use a thin knife to separate the cream from the sides of the dish, then carefully flip it onto a serving plate. Garnish with amaretti and serve.
