Ingredients
-
200 g Bread, wheat
-
4 pieces Egg, fresh
-
250 ml Milk, partially skimmed
-
60 ml Sweet cream
-
60 g Sugar, white
-
1 pod Vanilla, extract, natural
sprinkle
-
55 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
55 g Sugar, brown
-
0.5 teaspoons Spices, cinnamon, ground
-
2 pinch Salt, table
-
60 g Butter, unsalted
Steps
-
Cut the French bread into bite-sized pieces. Grease a 20 x 20 cm ovenproof dish with some butter and place the bread cubes in it. Spread them evenly across the dish.
-
In a large bowl, crack the eggs and whisk them well with a hand whisk. Add the milk and cream to them. Split the vanilla pod in half with a knife and scrape out the seeds with the tip of the knife, then add them to the bowl. Mix the ingredients in the bowl well once more and pour over the bread cubes. Then cover the dish with cling film and place it in the refrigerator overnight.
-
The next day, mix the flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Then crumble the butter into the bowl. Use your fingertips to rub the butter into the dry mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Preheat the oven to 175°C. Take the dish with the soaked bread out of the refrigerator and sprinkle the prepared butter crumble over it. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40 minutes until the top is nicely browned.
-
Remove the baked pudding from the oven and let it stand for 10 minutes to cool slightly. Then cut it into pieces of any size, serve on plates, and drizzle with maple syrup.
