Bread with Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

1 kg Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose

50 g Butter, unsalted

50 g Lard

4 spoon Milk, whole milk

25 g Yeast, dry

30 g Sugar, white

35 g Salt, table

1 piece Egg, fresh

100 ml Oil, olive

300 g Tomato sauce, without salt

100 g Leek

10 g Basil, fresh

1 piece Tomato, concentrate

In a pot over moderate heat, melt the butter and lard. Once the fat has melted, remove the pot from the heat and mix in cold milk, sugar, and crumbled fresh yeast.

Pour flour onto a clean work surface and make a large well in the center. Pour the yeast, milk, and fat mixture into the well. Add an egg and olive oil, and salt the flour around the edges. Knead everything together into a firm dough. Shape the dough into a loaf and let it rise in a warm place for at least one hour.

Quickly knead the risen dough and stretch it out onto a greased baking dish. Cover it with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Bake the risen bread in the preheated oven for 40 minutes.

Meanwhile, prepare the tomato sauce. Clean, wash, and finely chop the leek. Wash, dry, and roughly chop the basil. In a pot over moderate heat, warm the tomato puree along with the leek and basil. Mix in tomato concentrate and a few tablespoons of water. Cook the sauce until it thickens, then remove the pot from the heat.

After 40 minutes, take the baking dish with the bread out of the oven and pour the prepared tomato sauce over it. Bake for another 10 minutes.

Remove the baked bread from the oven and cut it into pieces of your desired size. Serve while still hot.
