Ingredients
-
pieces Butter, unsalted
-
250 g chocolate, dark
-
200 g Butter, unsalted
-
0.5 spoons Coffee, espresso
-
3 pieces Egg, fresh
-
1 teaspoon Vanilla, extract, imitation
-
180 g Sugar, white
-
110 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
0.25 teaspoons Baking powder
-
1 pinch Salt, table
Steps
-
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Grease a round cake pan with a removable rim (23 cm in diameter) well with butter and dust it with flour. Remove any excess flour. Break (or cut) the chocolate into smaller pieces. Also cut the butter into smaller pieces. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
-
Place a smaller pot on the stove and fill it with water up to 1/3. Place a heatproof bowl on top and make sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water in the pot. Add the butter and chocolate pieces to the bowl and melt them over the water bath. Once the butter and chocolate have melted, add the coffee, mix well, remove from heat, and let it cool.
-
In a bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the eggs, vanilla extract, and sugar until frothy. Reduce the mixer speed and slowly mix in the melted chocolate mixture. Add the dry ingredients and quickly mix everything together. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top evenly. Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes. When the cake cracks on top but is still moist in the center, it is done.
-
Remove the baked cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Then carefully remove the rim and transfer the cake to a serving plate or platter. Let the cake cool completely. Serve the cooled cake with whipped cream, chocolate, or fruit sauce.
