Ingredients
-
400 g chocolate, dark
-
200 g Butter, unsalted
-
6 pieces Egg, fresh
-
200 g Sugar, white
-
0.25 teaspoons Salt, table
-
2 spoons Alcohol, Coffee liqueur
-
0.5 teaspoons Vanilla, extract, imitation
-
180 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
Steps
-
Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius. Grease a small deep baking dish (33 x 23 cm) well with butter (or line it with baking paper). Break (or cut) the chocolate into smaller pieces. Also cut the butter into smaller pieces.
-
Place a small pot on the stove and fill it with water up to 1/3. Place a heatproof bowl on top and make sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water in the pot. Add the butter and chocolate pieces to the bowl and melt them over the water bath (see tips). Once the butter and chocolate have melted, remove the bowl from the heat and mix the contents well to obtain a smooth chocolate mixture. Let the melted chocolate cool slightly.
-
In another bowl, use an electric mixer to whisk the eggs, sugar, and salt until frothy. Slowly mix the melted chocolate, vanilla extract, and coffee liqueur into the whisked eggs. Mix until all the ingredients are well combined. Finally, sift the flour over the mixture and gently fold it into the egg-chocolate mixture.
-
Pour the prepared mixture into the baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes. The brownies are done when the center of the dish is firm to the touch. Remove the baked brownies from the oven and let them cool in the dish.
-
Once the brownies have cooled, cut them into larger cubes, arrange them on a serving plate, and serve.

Advice
A water bath is used for melting and dissolving delicate foods and ingredients or for frothy mixing (especially for preparing various sauces and creams). Place a heatproof bowl with the ingredients over another bowl with hot water and whisk the ingredients in the upper bowl until they thicken and froth. The water in the lower bowl should not boil vigorously! Instead of coffee liqueur, you can also use strong coffee or espresso to prepare the brownies.
