Butter Crescents with Jam
Once you try homemade butter crescents with jam, you will likely never buy them again. The dough is so soft and tender that it melts in your mouth, and for the filling, you can use your favorite jam, marmalade, chocolate, or even hazelnut spread.

Ingredients
-
500 ml Milk, whole milk
-
42 g Yeast, dry
-
100 g Sugar, white
-
1 kg Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
2 piece Egg, egg yolk, fresh
-
100 ml Water
-
50 ml Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
250 g Butter, unsalted
-
5 g Salt, table
-
pieces Marmalade, orange
-
pieces Powdered sugar
Steps
-
Pour the milk into a bowl and crumble the yeast into it. Add one tablespoon of sugar and one tablespoon of flour, mix well, and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes to allow the yeast to rise slightly.
-
In a larger bowl, place about 3/4 of the flour and make a well in the center. Add the egg yolk, the remaining sugar, about 100g of softened butter, lukewarm water, and 3/4 of the oil. Sprinkle the salt around the flour surrounding the well. Pour in the yeast mixture, mix well, and gradually add the remaining flour. Once the ingredients come together and form a rough dough, transfer it to a floured work surface and knead for 10 minutes until it becomes smooth, soft, and elastic. Shape the kneaded dough into a ball, place it in a bowl, and pour the remaining oil over it. Quickly knead the dough in the bowl once more, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until it doubles in volume.
-
Transfer the risen dough to a floured surface and quickly knead it. Shape it into a thicker roll and cut it into five equal-sized pieces, shaping them into balls.
-
Take one ball and roll it out on a floured surface into a thinner circle. Cut it into eight isosceles triangles. Place a teaspoon of jam on the wider end of each triangle, then roll them from the wider end towards the narrower end to form crescents.
-
Grease a baking tray well (or line it with baking paper) and arrange the prepared crescents on it. Place a small piece of butter on each crescent. Let the crescents rise for 20 minutes.
-
Bake the crescents in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for 20 minutes. Once baked, let them cool, then serve on a plate or platter, dust with powdered sugar, and enjoy.
