Ingredients
-
1 piece Cabbage, fresh
-
1.5 piece Onion, raw
-
3 pods Garlic, fresh
-
0.25 bouquet Parsley, fresh
-
500 g Meat, beef, ground
-
1 piece Egg, fresh
-
0.5 teaspoons Salt, table
-
2 pinch Spices, pepper, black
-
200 ml Soup base, beef, cube
-
2 spoons Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
1.5 teaspoons Spices, paprika
-
1 spoon Tomato, concentrate
Steps
-
Place a large pot of salted water on the stove. Clean the cabbage, wash it, and carefully remove 12 large outer leaves. When the water boils, dip the leaves into the boiling water for a few minutes to soften and wilt them. Remove the leaves with a slotted spoon, rinse with cold water, and let them dry. Flatten the thick inner ribs of the leaves.
-
Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic. Wash the parsley, shake it dry, and finely chop it. In a large bowl, mix the ground meat, half of the chopped onion and garlic, chopped parsley, and egg. Season the mixture with pepper and salt to taste and knead well.
-
Spread the cabbage leaves on the work surface and fill them with the prepared meat mixture. Place the filling on the thicker part of the cabbage leaves, then roll the leaves into a roll. Tuck the ends of the rolls inward. If necessary, tie the rolls with kitchen string or secure them with wooden toothpicks.
-
Arrange the cabbage rolls in a larger pot and pour in the meat broth. Place the pot on the stove and cook the rolls covered over low heat for about 40 minutes.
-
In a pan, sauté the remaining chopped onion and garlic in heated oil. Add paprika and tomato paste and mix everything well. Stir the mixture into the pot with the cabbage rolls about 30 minutes before the end of cooking.
-
Once the rolls are cooked, remove them from the pot and keep them warm. Strain the sauce. Serve the rolls on plates and pour the sauce over them. Serve the dish with a side of your choice.
