Ingredients
-
6 pieces Orange, shell
-
1 kg Sugar, white
Posip
- 100 g Sugar, white
Steps
-
Wash the oranges very well and dry them thoroughly. Cut off the peel at the top and bottom of the fruit, then make several vertical cuts in the peel to divide it into individual sections. Peel the oranges. Cut the peels into strips, 6 mm wide. Place the strips in a pot and add enough cold water to completely cover them.
-
Place the pot on the stove and wait for the water to boil. Drain the water, then add enough cold water again to completely cover the strips. Place the pot on the stove, bring the liquid to a boil, and drain the water again. Repeat the process one more time.
-
In another pot, mix sugar and 375 ml of water. Place the pot on the stove. Stir the mixture with a whisk. Wait for it to boil, then continue stirring and cooking for another 8 to 9 minutes. Reduce the temperature and add the drained orange peel strips to the sugar mixture. Stir, then simmer slowly for 45 minutes. Do not stir the contents while cooking, but occasionally shake the pot.
-
Remove the pot from the heat and drain the strips. Sprinkle sugar on a large tray and roll the orange peels in it. Dry them for 4 hours, then store them in a jar for preservation or use them immediately for preparing sweets.

Advice
Its best to use organic oranges, whose peel is not treated with pesticides. If organic oranges are not available, immerse the oranges in boiling water for a few minutes, then wipe them thoroughly to remove the wax, which contains toxins.
