1 teaspoon Salt, table

Steps
-
Roll out the puff pastry on a floured work surface into two squares measuring 24 x 24 cm. Crack an egg and separate the yolk from the white into two small bowls. Beat the egg white with a fork and brush it over the pastry. Save the yolk for later. Grate the Emmental cheese finely.

Line a baking tray with parchment paper and place the cheese sticks on it, spaced about 3 cm apart. Brush them with the beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with the remaining cheese and salt. Place the tray in the oven and bake the sticks for about 15 minutes until golden brown.

Advice
The sticks can also be sprinkled with poppy seeds, cumin, or caraway seeds. Puff pastry is easiest to thaw by leaving it wrapped in the refrigerator overnight. If thats not possible, place the puff pastry sheets on a plate side by side and let them thaw at room temperature for 30–60 minutes. You can also make puff pastry yourself.
