Chicken in Sour Cream and Paprika Sauce
Juicy chicken in a rich, creamy sour cream sauce. An excellent dish that pairs well with numerous side dishes, from boiled spaghetti to croquettes, and dont forget a piece of bread to wipe the pan and plates clean.

1 piece Onion, raw

1 spoon Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose

250 g Sour cream

300 ml Water

1 teaspoon Spices, paprika

Remove the skin from the chicken pieces if desired, otherwise simply season them with salt and ground pepper. Peel the onion and chop it into small pieces. Peel the garlic cloves.

Choose a large, deep pan for preparing the dish, in which you first heat the oil well. Brown the chicken pieces on both sides in the hot fat. You can brown them in two batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Keep the browned chicken pieces warm on a plate.

If necessary, pour off excess fat from the pan, then add the onion and sauté it, stirring occasionally, until it softens and turns golden brown. Squeeze the garlic into the sautéed onion.

As soon as the garlic becomes fragrant, sprinkle the flour over the ingredients in the pan and cook it, stirring constantly, for one minute. Mix in the sour cream and add water. Season the sauce with salt, ground paprika, and optionally with pepper. Stir until all ingredients are well combined and the sauce comes to a boil.

Once the sauce boils, reduce the heat slightly and add the browned chicken pieces along with any juices that have accumulated while resting. Cover the pan and let the dish simmer over moderate heat for 20 minutes.

Serve the prepared dish on plates with your chosen side (cooked rice or pasta, gnocchi, buckwheat porridge, bread dumplings, croquettes, mashed potatoes, etc.). Optionally, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley or chives on top.
