Chocolate Balls with Orange
You dont need any special pastry-making skills to prepare these balls. Children will gladly help you shape them, but we still advise you to keep an eye on them so they dont eat all the balls as you go.

Ingredients

Steps

Wash the orange thoroughly under running water and place it in a medium-sized pot. Cover with water and simmer covered for one hour. The orange is cooked when a thin knife can be easily inserted into the fruit. Let the cooked orange cool until lukewarm.

Cut the cooled orange, without peeling it, into quarters. Remove any seeds, then place the quarters in an electric chopper and blend until you get a smooth orange puree.

Mix the eggs and both types of sugar for 5-10 minutes until you get a very light, pale yellow cream. Add the ground hazelnuts (or almonds), cocoa powder, and baking powder. Finally, mix in the orange puree.

Grease a deep rectangular baking dish (30 x 40 cm) with butter and line it with baking paper. Pour the prepared mixture into the dish and spread it evenly with a spatula. Bake the sponge cake for 30-40 minutes in an oven preheated to 180°C. The cake is done when a skewer inserted into it comes out clean.

Let the baked sponge cake cool, then cut it into pieces and roll them into balls with your hands. Coat the balls in cocoa powder. If the sponge cake is too dry, moisten it with orange juice or milk. You can also add a little rum to the liquid used to moisten the cake.
