Ingredients
-
3 pieces Pear, fresh
-
2 piece Egg, fresh
-
120 g Sugar, white
-
60 ml Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
30 g Milk, whole milk
-
100 g Yogurt, plain, from whole milk
-
140 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
25 g Cocoa, powdered, unsweetened
-
10 g Baking powder
-
60 g chocolate, dark
-
pieces Powdered sugar
Steps
-
Wash the pears under running water and add them to a pot of boiling water. Simmer gently for 10 minutes, then drain and let them cool.
-
Whisk the eggs and sugar until frothy. Mix in the oil, milk, and yogurt into the egg mixture.
-
Sift the flour, baking powder, and cocoa into a bowl. Mix the sifted ingredients well and add them to the bowl with the liquid ingredients (egg mixture). Stir thoroughly with a hand whisk until you get a smooth and thick batter, then fold in the chocolate chips.
-
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a deep rectangular baking pan (25 cm long) with butter or line it with baking paper. Pour the batter into the pan, then add the cooked pears, placing them upright. Leave some space between the pears so the batter can rise during baking. Place the pan in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes. The pastry is done when a skewer inserted into the batter comes out clean.
-
Let the baked chocolate bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove it from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack. Once cooled, place it on a serving plate, dust with powdered sugar, slice, and serve.

Advice
Instead of oil, you can use melted butter (margarine) or coconut oil. You can replace part of the flour with ground hazelnuts or almonds if desired.
