Ingredients
-
400 g Nuts, chestnut, fresh
-
200 g chocolate, dark
-
4 spoon Sugar, brown
-
1 bag Sugar, brown
-
4 spoon Alcohol, Rum
Steps
-
Place the chestnuts in a large colander, rinse them quickly, then make a cross-shaped cut on the top of each chestnut. Cut just enough to pierce the outer hard shell. Place a pot with one and a half liters of water on the stove. Add the chestnuts to the pot and cook them over moderate heat for about 40 minutes. Once cooked, drain the chestnuts and peel them with a sharp knife. Arrange the peeled chestnuts on kitchen towels to dry slightly.
-
Place a saucepan with water on the stove and bring it to a boil. Place a metal bowl on top of the saucepan and break the chocolate into it. Once the chocolate starts to melt, add the rum and both types of sugar. Stir occasionally while heating. Once the chocolate and sugar are completely melted, mix well and remove the saucepan with the bowl from the heat.
-
Carefully skewer the cooked chestnuts with toothpicks and dip them into the melted chocolate mixture, then place them on a wire rack to let the chocolate set. Repeat until all the chestnuts are prepared. Once the chocolate has hardened, arrange the chestnuts on a plate or platter and serve.
