Ingredients
-
pieces Figs, fresh
-
100 g chocolate, dark
-
pieces Oil, plant, coconut
Steps
-
Wash the figs if necessary and dry them thoroughly with paper towels. Cut them in half lengthwise (if the figs are small, leave them whole).
-
Place a smaller pot on the stove and fill it with water up to 1/3. Place a heatproof bowl on top, making sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water in the pot. Add the dark chocolate pieces and coconut oil to the bowl, then slowly melt them over the water bath. Once the chocolate has melted, gently stir it to create a smooth and liquid chocolate sauce.
-
Dip the fig halves into the melted chocolate and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Once all the figs are coated in chocolate, place the tray in the freezer for 20 minutes to allow the chocolate to set. Store the tray with the chocolate-covered figs in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Advice
A water bath is used for melting and dissolving delicate foods and ingredients or for frothy mixing (especially for preparing various sauces and creams). Place the heatproof container with the ingredients on top of another container with hot water. The water in the lower container should not boil vigorously! You can add a pinch of salt to the chocolate, as salt enhances its flavor.
