Chocolate Drip (for Cake Decorating)
Dripping cake is a trend in cake decorating. By using just the right consistency of melted chocolate, we achieve the effect of chocolate dripping down the sides of the cake. Preparing the chocolate drip is not complicated, but it is important to ensure that the cake is well-chilled before applying the drip, and the chocolate must be at the perfect temperature to set as it is applied. You can watch the process of decorating a cake with a chocolate drip in the video below.

- Number of Servings: 10
Ingredients
-
100 g chocolate, dark
-
20 g Oil, vegetable oil, canola
Steps
-
Chop the chocolate into pieces and place it in a bowl. Add the oil and melt the mixture in the microwave in 10-second intervals or over a double boiler. Be careful not to overheat the chocolate.
-
Allow the melted chocolate to cool slightly before use. For easier application, transfer the mixture to a plastic squeeze bottle or piping bag. If you don’t have these, you can also apply the drip to the cake using a spoon.
-
The cake you are applying the drip to must be well-chilled. It’s helpful to place it on a turntable so you can rotate it while applying the drip. Apply the drip to the edge of the cake, being careful not to add too much chocolate at once. The chocolate drips should flow slowly down the cake, and it’s best if some stop in the middle for a more beautiful effect.
