Ingredients
-
110 g Butter, unsalted
-
220 g Sugar, white
-
4 pieces Egg, fresh
-
110 g chocolate, dark
-
80 g Flour, Wheat, bread flour
-
60 g Nuts, almonds
-
25 g Cocoa, powdered, unsweetened
-
1.25 teaspoons Baking powder
-
1 pinch Salt, table
-
600 g Pear, fresh
Steps
-
Peel the pears, cut them in half lengthwise, and remove the stems and cores. Slice them into chunks. Pour 3 cups of water and half the amount of sugar into a pot. Place the pot on the stove and heat the mixture over medium heat. Stir occasionally and cook until the sugar is completely dissolved. Add the pears to the pot. If necessary, add enough water to fully cover the pears. Wait until the liquid starts to simmer slightly, then cook for another 20 to 25 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat.
-
Break the chocolate into smaller pieces and place them in a metal bowl. Place a pot with a few centimeters of water on the stove, wait for it to boil, then place the metal bowl on top of the pot and wait for the chocolate to melt. Stir the melted chocolate well.
-
Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease the cake pan thoroughly.
-
In a large bowl, combine the flour, almonds, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix well. In another bowl, use a hand mixer to cream the butter and the remaining sugar until fluffy. Gradually add the eggs while mixing. Stir in the melted chocolate and mix until you get a uniform mixture. Finally, use a hand whisk to fold in the dry mixture and mix for another minute to combine all the ingredients. If using an electric mixer, set it to the lowest speed.
-
Pour the batter into the greased pan. Arrange the pear chunks on top. Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes. Do not overbake! Check the doneness with a toothpick: insert it into the center of the cake, and if it comes out with a few moist crumbs, the cake is done.
-
Let the cake cool slightly in the pan, then remove it from the pan and let it cool completely on a serving plate. Slice it into pieces and serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
