Ingredients
-
200 g chocolate, dark
-
90 g Butter, unsalted
-
70 g Sugar, white
-
2 spoons Sugar, brown
-
1 piece Egg, fresh
-
1 piece Egg, egg yolk, fresh
-
0.5 teaspoons Vanilla, extract, imitation
-
170 g Breadcrumbs, dried
-
30 ml Alcohol, Rum
-
1 cup Nuts, hazelnuts
-
pieces Powdered sugar
Steps
-
Coarsely chop the chocolate, place it in a heatproof bowl, and melt it together with the butter pieces over a double boiler.
-
In another bowl, mix the vanilla extract, regular and brown sugar, egg, and egg yolk until smooth. Pour this mixture into the bowl with the melted chocolate and butter. Stir the mixture over the double boiler with a spatula or whisk for 4 to 5 minutes, or until the sugar dissolves and you get a smooth chocolate mixture that should feel hot to the touch. Be careful not to let the eggs curdle!
-
Remove the bowl from the heat and add the crushed cookies, rum, and chopped nuts. Gently mix the ingredients with a spatula until you get a uniform mixture. Let it sit for a few minutes to cool and thicken. The mixture should be pliable, not too dry or crumbly. If it's too dry, add a tablespoon or two of milk. If it's too wet, add a bit more crushed cookies or nuts.
-
Divide the mixture into two parts and shape them with your hands into longer, thicker, sausage-like rolls. Wrap them in transparent food foil and store them in the refrigerator overnight.
-
Unwrap the chilled rolls and roll them in powdered sugar. Optionally, wrap the treat with a string to make it even more similar to real salami. Slice it with a sharp knife into pieces of your desired thickness and serve.

Advice
Chocolate salami, wrapped in food foil or baking paper, can be kept in the refrigerator for up to one week, and in the freezer, it can be stored for one month. If the salami becomes too hard in the refrigerator, let it sit at room temperature for half an hour to soften slightly, then slice it.
