Christmas Stars
Christmas Stars are delicate pastries invented by the Finns, called joulutorttu. The preparation is not too demanding, and they are best enjoyed right after they come out of the oven - cooled just enough so you dont burn your tongue. This recipe makes 18 stars.

Ingredients
-
500 g Dough, puff
-
250 g Marmalade, orange
-
0.25 teaspoons Spices, ginger, ground
-
0.25 teaspoons Spices, cinnamon, ground
-
2 pinch Spices, nutmeg, ground
-
60 g Powdered sugar
Steps
-
Prepare the filling: place plum jam in a small bowl. Add the spices and mix everything together until smooth.
-
Roll out the thawed dough on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of 3 mm and cut it into squares with sides of 5 to 6 cm. Cut the squares diagonally towards the center, leaving about 1/3 of the square uncut so the center still holds together. Turn the cut squares into pinwheels by folding every other corner towards the center and pressing with your fingers to hold the shape (see picture). Place a spoonful of jam in the center of each pinwheel.
-
Preheat the oven to 205 °C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the prepared stars on the baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Transfer the baked stars to a cooling rack and let them cool.
-
Arrange the cooled stars on a serving plate, dust with powdered sugar, and serve.
