Ingredients
Dough
-
500 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
1 teaspoon Spices, cinnamon, ground
-
3 spoons Sugar, white
-
1 bag Yeast, dry
-
pieces Lemon zest, fresh
-
180 ml Milk, whole milk
-
60 g Butter, unsalted
-
2 piece Egg, fresh
-
1 teaspoon Salt, table
-
40 ml Alcohol, Brandy
-
75 g Nuts, almonds
-
75 g Cranberries, dried
-
120 ml Alcohol, Brandy
-
6 spoon Butter, unsalted
-
1 teaspoon Alcohol, Brandy
Sladkorni preliv
-
80 g Powdered sugar
-
pieces Juice, orange
Steps
-
Place the cranberries in a bowl, pour cherry brandy over them, and let them soak. Sift the flour into a bowl and mix it with ground cinnamon, sugar, grated lemon zest, and dry yeast.
-
Heat the milk together with the butter until lukewarm. Remove from heat and mix in the amaretto, eggs, and salt. Pour the mixture into the bowl and knead the ingredients into a smooth and pliable dough. Cover it with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until its volume doubles.
-
Coarsely chop the almonds and drain the soaked cranberries. Roll out the risen dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle, about 4 mm thick. Brush the rolled-out dough with melted butter, then sprinkle the almonds and cranberries over it.
-
Roll the dough along the longer side into a log, then cut it lengthwise in half. Braid the two halves together and shape them into a wreath. When braiding, turn the halves so that the cut side faces upwards. Brush the top of the wreath with butter and let it rise in a warm place for 15 minutes.
-
Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius. Grease a large baking dish well with butter, place the risen wreath in it, and bake for 45 minutes. While still hot, brush the wreath with amaretto.
-
Sift powdered sugar into a bowl and mix in enough orange juice to make a medium-thick glaze. Brush the wreath with the glaze and let it cool completely before serving.
