Ingredients
Caramel sauce
-
250 ml Sweet cream
-
175 g Sugar, brown
-
60 g Butter, unsalted
-
250 ml Water
-
100 g Butter, unsalted
-
0.25 teaspoons Salt, table
-
150 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
3 pieces Egg, fresh
-
pieces Oil, vegetable oil, canola
Posip
-
110 g Sugar, white
-
2 teaspoons Spices, cinnamon, ground
Steps
-
First, prepare the caramel sauce. Place a pot with sweet cream, butter, and sugar on the stove. Heat slowly over medium heat, stirring until the butter and sugar are completely dissolved. Cook the sauce for another 4 to 5 minutes until it turns golden brown and thickens slightly, then remove the pot from the heat.
-
In a larger pot, bring a mixture of water, salt, and butter to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and add the sifted flour to the hot liquid. Stir well to form a smooth, lump-free mixture. Continue cooking and stirring for 2 minutes or until a large dough ball forms that easily separates from the sides of the pot and the stove. Remove the pot from the heat and let the dough cool for about 5 minutes.
-
Using an electric mixer, gradually mix in the eggs (one at a time) into the cooled dough. It’s important to mix well after each addition to ensure the egg is fully incorporated into the dough.
-
Heat oil in a large pot. Fill a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle with the dough. Pipe approximately 10 cm long sticks into the hot oil and fry for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown. Remove the fried sticks with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Repeat the process until all the dough is used.
-
While still warm, roll the sticks in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon, serve on plates, and accompany with the caramel sauce, served in small bowls.

Advice
The ingredients are enough to make approximately 50 churros. Fry in a large amount of fat. The food should float in it. For frying, use fats that do not contain water, such as coconut oil or good quality oil. The fat is hot enough for frying when small bubbles form around a wooden spoon handle.
