Cottage Cheese Roll with Blueberries
We Slovenes are big fans of various types of rolls or strudels, as we colloquially like to call them. The most popular is undoubtedly the apple strudel, but the cottage cheese roll with delicious blueberries also ranks high on the list of sinfully good treats. Serve it warm with a scoop of ice cream, or enjoy it cold with a cup of hot beverage or a glass of good wine.

Ingredients
-
500 g Dough, puff
-
500 g Cheese, cottage cheese
-
180 g Sour cream
-
2.5 spoons Sugar, white
-
2 spoons Sugar, white
-
0.5 teaspoons Lemon zest, fresh
-
0.25 teaspoons Spices, cinnamon, ground
-
300 g Blueberry, raw
-
50 g Butter, unsalted
-
4 spoon Breadcrumbs, dried
-
1 piece Egg, fresh
-
1.5 spoons Powdered sugar
Steps
-
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. In a bowl, combine the cottage cheese with cream, regular and vanilla sugar, and grated lemon zest. If desired, add a bit of cinnamon.
-
Melt the butter in a pan and toast the cookie crumbs in it. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
-
Spread a clean cloth on the work surface and lightly dampen it. Place the puff pastry on the cloth and roll it out slightly if needed. Spread the cottage cheese filling on the lower end of the pastry, covering the bottom 2/3. Sprinkle the blueberries as evenly as possible over the filling, then drizzle with the toasted crumbs. Fold the sides of the pastry over the filling, then roll it up lengthwise using the cloth. Place the roll in a baking dish lined with parchment paper.
-
Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the top of the roll. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes. When the top is nicely golden brown, remove from the oven, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it cool. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar, slice, and serve.
