Fried Apple Slices with Limoncello
Fried apple slices are a well-known and delicious dessert made from apples cut into rings, dipped in batter, and fried to a golden brown in oil. This time, weve slightly adapted the recipe to make the dessert even more delightful and refined. We added a bit of limoncello, a popular Italian lemon liqueur, to the batter, which pleasantly refreshes the dessert while adding a divine aroma.

Ingredients
-
2 piece Egg, fresh
-
125 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
2 spoons Sugar, brown
-
pieces Lemon zest, fresh
-
1 spoon Alcohol, Liqueur, Crème de Menthe
-
1 spoon Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
pieces Milk, whole milk
-
4 pieces Apples, rose
-
pieces Juice, lemon
-
pieces Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
pieces Powdered sugar
Steps
-
Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites into two bowls. In the bowl with the yolks, sift the flour and add limoncello, grated lemon zest, oil, and sugar. Mix well with a hand whisk, and if the mixture is too dry, add one or two tablespoons of milk.
-
Beat the egg whites with a hand whisk or electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Gently and slowly fold the beaten egg whites into the yolk mixture in two or three additions. Once you have a smooth and slightly thick batter without lumps, stop mixing.
-
Peel the apples and remove the cores. Slice them into 1 cm thick rings, place them in a bowl, and pour lemon juice over them. Gently mix and let the apples marinate in the juice for 5 minutes.
-
Heat the oil well in a pan. Dip the apple rings into the batter and carefully place them into the hot oil. Fry them until golden brown on both sides. Remove the fried rings from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess fat.
-
Serve the fried apple slices on plates, dust with powdered sugar, and enjoy.

Advice
Limoncello can be substituted with rum or brandy. The oil is hot enough when small bubbles appear around the edge of a wooden spoon dipped into it.
