Fried Meatballs
Meatballs are an excellent choice for any day of the week - during weekdays when we are usually in a hurry, and also for weekends when we have a bit more time for cooking. The reason for their universal popularity likely lies in the fact that children also love them, and meatballs can be served with numerous side dishes. Among the most classic are mashed potatoes, potato salad, creamed spinach, and tomato sauce, but they are often also accompanied by fried potatoes and stewed cabbage.

Ingredients
-
500 g Meat, beef, ground
-
1 piece Egg, fresh
-
2 slices Bread, wheat
-
2 dl Milk, whole milk
-
1.5 spoons Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
1 piece Onion, raw
-
2 pod Garlic, fresh
-
0.25 bouquet Parsley, fresh
-
pieces Salt, table
-
pieces Breadcrumbs, dried
-
pieces Oil, vegetable oil, canola
Steps
-
Cut the bread into cubes, place them in a bowl, and pour warm milk over them. Let it sit for a few minutes so the bread absorbs the liquid and softens. Meanwhile, prepare the other ingredients.
-
Peel the garlic and onion, and finely chop them separately. Rinse the parsley under running water, shake it dry, and chop it. Heat a little oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onion until translucent. Add the garlic, and fry everything together for another 1 to 2 minutes (until the garlic becomes aromatic), then remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool.
-
Place the ground meat in a larger bowl. Add the egg, chopped parsley, the cooled onion and garlic mixture, and the soaked bread, squeezing out any excess liquid if necessary. Season with pepper and salt to taste, then mix all the ingredients well with a spoon.
-
Shape the prepared mixture into meatballs of your desired size using wet hands, and roll them in breadcrumbs. Place the breaded meatballs on a large plate or tray.
-
Heat oil in a deeper pan, making sure it is not too hot. Fry the breaded meatballs in the hot oil until golden brown, turning them once. Remove the fried meatballs with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels. Once the excess fat has drained, serve the meatballs on plates with your chosen side dish.
