Ingredients
-
1.5 l Water
-
1.5 teaspoons Salt, table
-
1.5 spoons Butter, unsalted
-
300 g Koruzni zdrob
-
1.5 spoons Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
60 ml Oil, vegetable oil, canola
Steps
-
Bring 1.5 liters of water to a boil in a pot. Salt the water and enrich it with a little butter. Slowly and gradually stir in the cornmeal. While stirring continuously, cook the polenta for about 5 minutes. Once the polenta boils, reduce the heat and cook it on low heat for about 30 minutes or until it thickens. Stir the polenta well several times during cooking. The polenta is done when a spoon stands upright in the middle of it.
-
Grease a smaller deep baking dish (approximately 30 cm x 20 cm) well with oil. Transfer the cooked polenta into the greased dish and spread it evenly. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about an hour to allow the polenta to set.
-
Once set and cooled, remove the polenta from the dish onto a cutting board and cut it into longer and narrower sticks.
-
Heat oil in a large pan and fry the polenta sticks until golden brown on all sides. Fry the sticks for about 5 minutes, turning them during cooking. Serve the fried polenta sticks as a side dish or appetizer.
