Ingredients
-
450 g Flour, Wheat, bread flour
-
1 teaspoon Salt, table
-
1 bag Yeast, dry
-
1 spoon Sugar, white
-
320 ml Water
-
2 spoons Oil, olive
-
0.5 teaspoons Spices, garlic powder
garlic butter
-
70 g Butter, unsalted
-
0.75 teaspoons Spices, garlic powder
-
0.5 teaspoons Spices, oregano, dried
-
0.5 teaspoons Parsley, fresh
-
0.5 teaspoons Salt, table
-
2 spoons Cheese, Parmesan, grated
Steps
-
Sift the flour into a bowl and mix it with salt and garlic powder (you can omit the latter if desired). Add yeast, sugar, water, and oil, and knead the ingredients by hand or with a machine into a smooth and pliable dough. Shape it into a ball, place it in a bowl, and let it rise in a warm place for 60-90 minutes (until it doubles in size).
-
Prepare the garlic butter that will be used to brush the pastry. In a small saucepan, slowly melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and add garlic powder, oregano, parsley, and salt (you can also add Parmesan if desired). Mix the ingredients well.
-
Clean and lightly flour the work surface. Place the risen dough on it and quickly knead it, then divide it into two parts and let them rest for 10 minutes. Next, cut each part into 8 pieces, resulting in 16 pieces of dough.
-
Lightly flour each piece of dough and shape it into a ball with your hands, then roll it into a shorter rope and twist or braid it to form a knot. Tuck the ends under the knot if desired.
-
Place the prepared knots on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Loosely cover them with a piece of food foil and let them rest for 30 minutes before baking. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
-
Before baking, brush the risen knots with garlic butter. Bake them in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they turn golden brown. Once baked, remove them from the oven and brush them with the remaining garlic butter.
-
Serve the garlic knots while they are still warm or let them cool to room temperature before serving.

Advice
Instead of garlic powder, you can also use 3 finely chopped cloves of garlic when preparing the garlic butter.
