Ingredients
-
600 g Potatoes, white
-
450 g Turnip
-
2.5 l Water
-
1.5 teaspoons Salt, table
-
3 spoons Butter, unsalted
-
1 piece Onion, young
-
2 pod Garlic, fresh
-
100 g Cheese, Parmesan, hard
-
1 spoon Ginger, fresh
-
1 spoon Rosemary, fresh
-
150 g Sweet cream
-
1.5 dl Milk, whole milk
-
2 pinch Spices, pepper, red or cayenne
-
2 pinch Salt, table
Steps
-
Peel and wash the potatoes and turnips. Slice both into thin rings. Peel, wash, and chop the onion and garlic. Grate the cheese.
-
Place a large pot with 2.5 liters of water on the stove. Wait for it to boil, then add 1.5 teaspoons of salt along with the turnip and potato slices. Wait for the water to boil again, then cook for another 2 minutes and drain.
-
Place a large pan on medium heat, and once it’s warm, add a tablespoon of butter. Add the onion to the melted butter, stir, and sauté for 2 minutes until translucent. Add the garlic, ginger, and rosemary, and sauté for another 2 to 3 minutes. Be careful not to let the ingredients brown. Remove from heat and mix in the cream.
-
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease a deep baking dish with butter. Layer the potato and turnip slices alternately in the dish. Lightly season the layers with salt and pepper, then pour the cream mixture over them. Pour milk over the casserole, then sprinkle with grated cheese and the remaining butter pieces. Place the dish in the preheated oven. Bake for about 60 minutes. The vegetables should soften, and the surface should turn golden brown.
-
Remove the baked casserole from the oven and cut into portions. Serve.
