Ingredients
-
400 g Tofu
-
0.25 teaspoons Spices, pepper, red or cayenne
-
80 ml Juice, lemon
-
1 spoon Sugar, brown
-
3 pinch Salt, table
-
3 pods Garlic, fresh
-
1 teaspoon Spices, turmeric, ground
-
1 pinch Spices, cumin, seeds
-
1 pinch Spices, mustard seeds, ground
Steps
-
In a bowl, mix together cayenne pepper, cumin, allspice, turmeric, and sugar. Peel the garlic and sprinkle it with salt. Then, crush it with a knife and finely chop it. Add the garlic to the prepared spice mixture. Add lemon juice and mix everything together to create a herbal marinade.
-
Rinse the tofu under running water, dry it with paper towels, and cut it into 4 equal rectangles. Place the rectangles in a long dish and pour the prepared marinade over them. Turn the pieces several times to ensure the marinade evenly coats all pieces. Then, place the dish with the tofu in the refrigerator for 1 hour. While marinating, turn the tofu pieces several times.
-
Just before taking the tofu out of the refrigerator, preheat the grill to medium-high heat. When the grill is hot enough, take the tofu out of the refrigerator and place the marinated pieces on the grill. Brush each piece with some marinade on top, then grill for about 5 minutes until the bottom side is well-seared. Then, flip the pieces and repeat the process.
-
Serve the tofu pieces on a plate, drizzle with the remaining marinade, and offer with your chosen side dish.
