Ingredients
-
600 g Fish, white fish
-
6 dag Bread, wheat
-
1.5 dl Milk, whole milk
-
5 dag Meat, pork, smoked bacon
-
1 piece Onion, raw
-
1 piece Egg, fresh
-
4 spoon Breadcrumbs, dried
-
0.5 teaspoons Salt, table
-
1 pinch Spices, pepper, black
-
pieces Oil, vegetable oil, canola
Steps
-
Cut the bread into small cubes, place them in a bowl, and pour milk over them. Peel the onion and finely chop it, then cut the bacon into small pieces.
-
Place a pan on the stove and heat the oil. Sauté the onion and bacon until fragrant, then transfer them to a bowl. Rinse the hake fillets under water and dry them with paper towels. Cut them into pieces and finely chop them using a hand blender (you can also use a food processor). Transfer the chopped fish to the bowl. Add an egg, season with salt and pepper to taste, and mix the ingredients well to form a uniform mixture.
-
Prepare a shallow plate and sprinkle breadcrumbs on it. If the fish mixture is too soft, you can thicken it with breadcrumbs. Shape the mixture into approximately 8 flat patties and coat them in breadcrumbs.
-
Place a new pan on the stove and heat the oil well. Fry the prepared patties in the hot oil on both sides until they turn golden brown. Transfer the fried patties to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess fat.
-
Serve the prepared fish cakes on plates with your chosen side dish.

Advice
Instead of dry bread, you can use 2 old rolls. Fry in a large amount of fat. The food should float in it. For frying, use fats that do not contain water, such as coconut oil or good quality oil. The frying fat is hot enough if small bubbles form around a wooden spoon handle.
