Halva
Halva is an Oriental or Asian dessert, known and popular all over the world. Recipes from different countries vary, but it is always very sweet and rich in fat and spices. To the basic ingredients (semolina or starch, butter, almonds or other nuts), we add raisins or dates, various fruits, and spices (cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, saffron, cloves, or rose water).

Ingredients
-
200 g Nuts, almonds
-
200 g Semolina
-
6 dl Milk, whole milk
-
180 g Sugar, brown
-
150 g Butter, unsalted
-
1 pinch Spices, cinnamon, ground
-
1 pinch Spices, cardamom
-
1 pinch Spices, ginger, ground
Steps
-
Heat a greased pan and add semolina and almonds. Roast them while constantly stirring until the mixture becomes fragrant. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
-
In a small pot, bring milk, sugar, and butter to a boil. Remove the boiling liquid from heat and let it cool slightly. Slowly and carefully (to avoid burns from the rising steam) pour the liquid into the pan with the roasted mixture of almonds and semolina. Lower the temperature, return the pan to the heat, and cook on low heat while constantly stirring for about 30 minutes or until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and mix in the aromatics. Cover the halva with a clean cloth and let it cool to room temperature.
-
Transfer the halva to a serving dish with a flat bottom and smooth it out. Wait for it to cool completely and set. Once cooled, cut it into pieces and serve.
