Ingredients
Cookies
-
350 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
200 g Sugar, white
-
1 pinch Salt, table
-
1 piece Egg, fresh
-
1 piece Egg, egg yolk, fresh
-
2 teaspoons Vanilla, extract, natural
-
180 g Butter, unsalted
-
pieces chocolate, dark
-
45 g Powdered sugar
-
pieces Water
-
50 g chocolate, dark
-
pieces Butter, unsalted
Steps
-
Sift the flour into a bowl and mix it with sugar and salt. Add the cold butter, cut into pieces, to the mixture. Quickly rub the butter into the dry ingredients with your fingertips, lifting the mixture to make it airy and crumbly. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract, then quickly knead the ingredients into a crumbly dough. Shape the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 40 minutes.
-
Clean and lightly flour the work surface. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, preheat the oven, and set it to 180°C (350°F).
-
Take the chilled dough out of the refrigerator and divide it into two parts. Keep one part in the fridge, and roll out the other part on the floured work surface to a thickness of 3 to 5 mm. Cut out circles from the rolled dough, place them on the baking sheet, and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.
-
While the cookies are baking, roll out the second portion of dough and cut out more round cookies.
-
Transfer the baked cookies to a wire rack and let them cool. Place the remaining cookies on the baking sheet and bake them in the oven.
-
In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar and water until smooth to create a thick glaze. Use this glaze to attach chocolate candies as noses to the cooled cookies. Let the glaze set.
-
Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler. Gently stir the melted mixture until smooth. Use a piping bag to draw eyes and antlers on the cookies with the chocolate mixture. Let the chocolate cool and set, then arrange the cookies on a plate and serve.
