Homemade Bolognese Sauce
A popular sauce made from ground meat and tomatoes, typically used to top spaghetti or other pasta. The sauce is very convenient as it can be cooked in larger quantities and then divided into smaller portions and frozen. This way, it is always on hand for a quick and delicious lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

2 spoons Oil, olive

1 piece Onion, raw

1 piece Carrot, fresh

500 g Meat, beef, shoulder

Steps

Peel the onion and garlic, and finely chop them separately. Clean and wash the carrot and celery. Grate the carrot and chop the celery into small pieces.

Place a large, deep pan or pot on the stove. Pour oil into the pot and wait for it to heat up. Add the onion and sauté until it becomes translucent. Add the carrot and celery, and sauté everything together for 2-3 minutes while stirring.

Add the ground meat to the pot and cook it, stirring occasionally, until it breaks into pieces and turns brown.

Stir in the tomato paste, bay leaf, and chopped garlic. Mix well, and when the garlic becomes fragrant, add the canned tomatoes and tomato pulp. Scrape the bottom of the pot well with a spatula to release all the caramelized bits that formed during cooking. Add a little water or broth to achieve a medium-thick sauce, and season with basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cover and simmer on medium heat for about 50 minutes. Add more water or broth if needed during cooking. At the end, you can remove the lid to thicken the sauce further.

Once the sauce is ready, serve it with pasta, gnocchi, or use it to prepare lasagna. The sauce can also be divided into smaller portions and frozen.
