- Preparation Time: 80 minutes
- Cooking Time: 10 minutes
- Difficulty: 2
- Spiciness: 0
- Number of Servings: 4
Ingredients
-
400 g Flour, Wheat, bread flour
-
300 ml Water
-
1 teaspoon Sugar, white
-
21 g Yeast, dry
-
1 teaspoon Salt, table
-
1.5 spoons Oil, vegetable oil, canola
Steps
-
Sift the flour into a bowl, make a well in the center, and pour in the water in which we have dissolved the sugar. Crumble the yeast on top, mix slightly, and let it stand for 10 minutes.
-
When the yeast rises, sprinkle salt over the flour, then knead the dough with a mixer, which will be very sticky. You can also knead by hand by grabbing the dough at one end, pulling it, and folding it. Repeat the process from all sides.
-
After five minutes of kneading, add the oil and continue kneading so that the oil is slowly absorbed. Cover the kneaded dough and let it rise for 30 minutes. Start preheating the oven to 250 degrees Celsius at this point, as it needs to be well heated.
-
Dust the counter well and turn the dough onto it. Dust the top as well, then gently stretch it into a rectangle and fold it from all four sides towards the center. Flip the dough with a spatula and shape it into a loaf, which we divide into four equal parts. Shape each part into a nice ball, and you can use a bit of flour to help with the stickiness. Cover the balls with a kitchen towel and let them rise for 10 to 15 minutes.
-
After the second rise, gently stretch the balls from the center outward into flatbreads. Rolling will squeeze too many air bubbles out of the dough. Place the flatbreads on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and dusted with flour.
-
Prick each flatbread with a fork or make impressions in the shape of a grid with the blunt side of a dough spatula or knife. Be careful not to cut through the flatbreads. Cover and let them rise for another 10 minutes.
-
Bake the flatbreads for 10 minutes, the last two minutes under the broiler to give them a nice color. Wrap them in a cloth while still hot and let them cool slightly or completely.
