Homemade Kremšnita
Soft cream flavored with vanilla and rum, crispy pastry, delicate, lightly whipped cream… This is a good homemade Kremšnita, a dessert that we all adore, and it also suits various occasions. It can be made in a baking dish, as a cake, or layered in glasses. Versatile and very simple to make.

Ingredients
Cream

5 pieces Egg, egg yolk, fresh

2 bags Sugar, white

8 spoon Sugar, white

5 spoon Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose

1 l Milk, whole milk

2 spoons Alcohol, Rum

Steps

Roll out both pieces of puff pastry on a lightly floured work surface to the size of the baking dish (approximately 23 x 30 centimeters). If you buy pre-rolled pastry, skip this step.

Prick both pieces of rolled-out pastry with a fork in several places and bake at 180 degrees Celsius for about 13 minutes, until they turn golden brown. Let them cool and set aside.

Mix the egg yolks, vanilla sugar, and 6 tablespoons of regular sugar for about 10 minutes, until a light, pale yellow, and fluffy mixture forms. Add the flour and a little milk to create a thick mixture, similar to when making pudding.

Pour the remaining milk into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Slowly mix the hot milk into the mixture of egg yolks, sugar, and flour. Once all the milk is mixed in, pour the mixture back into the saucepan and return it to the heat. Cook slowly until the cream thickens (about 5 minutes). Stir the cream continuously with a whisk or spoon. Once the cream is cooked, mix in the rum.

Beat the egg whites and 2 tablespoons of sugar into stiff peaks. Gently fold the stiffly beaten egg whites into the hot cream using slow motions with a whisk.

Place one piece of baked puff pastry in the baking dish. Pour the hot cream over it, spreading it evenly across the entire surface, and let it cool.

Whip the sweet cream and carefully spread it over the cooled cream. Cover with the second piece of baked pastry. Cut the dessert into pieces of your desired size using a sharp, serrated knife. Generously dust with powdered sugar.
