Ingredients
-
500 g Flour, Wheat, bread flour
-
50 g Butter, unsalted
-
1 teaspoon Salt, table
-
3 dl Milk, whole milk
-
15 g Yeast, dry
-
20 g Butter, unsalted
Steps
-
In a small cup, melt the butter over moderate heat. Set the cup with melted butter aside. In a small bowl, mix the yeast smoothly in one deciliter of lukewarm milk. Sift the flour into a larger bowl. Mix it with salt and the melted butter, then make a well in the center and pour in the milk with yeast. Start mixing and gradually add the remaining milk. When the dough is still wet and sticky, turn it out onto a floured surface and knead until it becomes soft and no longer sticks to your hands. Shape the kneaded dough into a loaf, place it in a greased bowl, and cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
-
Quickly knead the risen dough and let it rise again.
-
Grease a small rectangular deep baking dish well. Squeeze the air out of the risen dough with your hands, then shape the dough into a loaf the size of the baking dish. Place the loaf in the dish and let the dough rise in the dish for about 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
-
Place the baking dish with the risen dough in the preheated oven for 35 minutes. Remove the baked bread from the oven, turn it out of the dish onto a towel, and generously spread it with butter. Wrap the bread in a kitchen towel to let it cool slowly and soften.
-
Slice the cooled bread into thin slices, which can be additionally toasted if desired.
