Ingredients
-
1 kg Potatoes, white
-
500 g Spinach, raw
-
500 g Cheese, cottage cheese
-
3 pieces Egg, fresh
-
80 g Cheese, Parmesan, grated
-
3 spoons Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
1 teaspoon Salt, table
-
3 pinch Spices, pepper, black
-
2 pinch Spices, nutmeg, ground
Steps
-
Thoroughly wash the potatoes (scrub them if necessary), place them in a large pot, and cover with cold water. The water should be about two fingers above the potatoes. Place the pot on the stove, lightly salt the water, and bring the potatoes to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat, cover the pot, and cook the potatoes for another 15 minutes. When the potatoes are still slightly firm (check with a sharp, thin knife), drain them and let them cool slightly.
-
Place a large pot of water on the stove. Clean and wash the spinach. When the water in the pot boils, add the spinach and cook it just until it wilts and softens. Then drain it well and let it cool.
-
In a bowl, mash the cottage cheese with a fork and mix it with the eggs and grated Parmesan. Season to taste with pepper and salt, and mix everything well to form a uniform mixture.
-
Squeeze the spinach well and transfer it to a bowl. Season it with oil, salt, and nutmeg. Mix well so the spinach is evenly seasoned. Peel the potatoes and slice them into approximately 0.5 cm thick slices.
-
Grease a deep ovenproof dish well with oil. Cover the bottom of the dish with potato slices. Optionally, lightly season the potato layer with pepper and salt. Spread half of the spinach over the potatoes, then cover the spinach with half of the cottage cheese, Parmesan, and egg mixture. Repeat the process to create a layered dish with six layers. Place the dish in the preheated oven for about 35 to 40 minutes, until the surface is golden brown.
