Ingredients
-
3 spoons Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
800 g Potatoes, white
-
400 g Onion, raw
-
300 g Meat, pork, ground
-
pieces Salt, table
-
5 spoon Tomato, concentrate
Steps
-
Peel the potatoes, wash them, and slice them thinly using a knife or vegetable slicer. Peel the onion, halve it, and slice it into thin pieces. Place the ground meat in a bowl. Lightly season it with salt and pepper, add a little water, and knead it well with clean hands.
-
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Grease a deep baking dish well with oil, then layer the potatoes, onion, and ground meat in it. Start by spreading a layer of potatoes and onion on the bottom, lightly season the vegetables with salt and pepper, then cover with a layer of ground meat. Repeat the process and finish with a layer of potatoes. Pour a mixture of tomato concentrate and water over the top. There should be enough liquid to fully cover the ingredients.
-
Cover the baking dish with food foil and place it in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes. When the potatoes soften and can be easily pierced with a knife, carefully remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes until the top turns golden brown and excess liquid evaporates. If needed, turn on the broiler for the last few minutes of baking.
-
Cut the hot dish into portions, serve on plates, and accompany with a bowl of your favorite salad.

Advice
Instead of tomato concentrate, you can use ajvar or ketchup. When removing the foil, you can sprinkle grated cheese over the bake or pour a mixture of eggs and cream over it.
